- THE "I DON'T KNOW HOW" EXCUSE Clearly it's more of a challenge to know how to "do marriage" if you don't grow up in a married household. BUT we in the marriage education movement need to be sure we do not promote and endorse and give credibility to this excuse. We need to, as Rozario Slack did so eloquently in his *Message to Our Sons* keynote, call men to step up and declare that they are going to learn how to do marriage and become models for their son and break this devastating cycle. That they are going to from this day forward create a new legacy. Instead of "I don't know how" say "I'm going to learn how." We can give Combs the benefit of the doubt and hope that he was misquoted. And we can get information to him about how to take a class, find a marriage mentor - and to help use his power and position to get this information to others and to lead the way.
