While these resources are often web pages that were built or designed by the webmaster, it is also possible to use the web server as a tool for penetration and extracting sensitive data from a computer. There are several attack vectors that make this possible, but there's one that server operators need to be aware of, especially if the server hosts more than one site: the web backdoor. In this week's update we are going to take a look at this class of attack and discuss what a web backdoor is, how it works, and show you a few popular examples. Well, the very act of having in your possession a tool that could be used by an attacker could land you in trouble.
