A New Breed Of Content Sharing Website - Qassia.com Posted: 24 Mar 2008 08:29 AM CDT I discovered a new content sharing site today thanks to Yvette Segal of Qassia describes itself as an intelligence engine and tag-based web directory. You can create an account and add an unlimited number of backlinks to your website for free. Most importantly these links are do-follow (which means the search engines give them weight). As opposed to no-follow, which means they have no weight with the search engines whatsoever, and so are pointless for SEO purposes. How it works You contribute content to the site by writing what are called intels. Intels are little nuggets of information about anything or anyone you choose. Unlike many content sharing sites (such as Squidoo and Hubpages), these snippets do not have to be long, and neither do they have to be original. This appeals to me because as a mum and business owner there are only so many lengthy articles I can write in a day! So if I can literally write a paragraph of information and get credit for it in terms of quality backlinks, then that works for me. The fab thing is, every intel you create that gets published creates a backlink to your site. The more intels you write, the more backlinks you get to your websites. Oh, and if you have more than one website you can link them all to your Qassia account. The site could end up with a lot of chaff content, but the guys at Qassia have a user generated strategy to ensure that only the best content shows up on the site. Heres how. Every intel you write is rated by other users of the site before it is published. My understanding is that when a certain number of people (I think its 12, but I could be wrong) give your intel a positive rating it gets published on the Net along with your do-follow backlinks. If your intel gets bad ratings, then it doesnt get published. Therefore, it is users who determine what is good information, and what is not. The higher your intels rating, the higher up it will appear in relation to other intels on the same subject. Everything you do on the site generates credit, known as Qassia dollars. The more credit you have, the better your websites will rank (how Im not sure yet). You earn Qassia dollars by: Rating other users intels - literally a poll, you dont even have to comment. Adding your own intels Referring friends to Qassia In addition to earning backlinks to your websites, you can also earn ad revenue. If you have a Google Adsense account you can attach this to your intels and earn 100% of the revenue from clicks. Yep, 100%. Other content sharing sites offer 40% - 50% so this is pretty good Id say. Qassia is a very new site, still in Beta. So the true effectiveness of it as a backlinking strategy remains to be seen. Ill certainly be giving it a go because the time involved in contributing to the site seems much less time consuming than other content sharing sites. So, if it doesnt end up creating the results Id like, then I havent wasted too much time. Check it out for yourself here - * Currently you can only be referred to the site by an existing user, so if you are interested in signing up and trying it out you can use my link above. Just so you know, I earn credit for the referral so if youre not comfortable with that then dont click! -- You are buy onlined to email updates from "Internet Mumpreneurs - Ideas & Resources for Work At Home Mums And Dads Growing Businesses Online.
